UWTTC History
The Table Tennis Club was an idea formed by two students, Richard Qian and Brian Hibler, early in the 2006 Fall Semester. After becoming a Student Organization and creating an executive board, the Table Tennis Club was founded. The TTC quickly became affiliated with NCTTA (National Collegiate Table Tennis Association) and Club Sports. The traveling team took first place in the Midwest and sixth in the nation, winning the Rookie Team of the Year Award. Last year, a women’s team was formed in addition to the Co-ed team, and the women took first in the Midwest and fifth in the nation.
We started with less than 5 members, but soon found many passionate students who are interested in table tennis. Today, we have more than 90 members in the club and have recruited excellent players. As an active club in the University of Wisconsin, we participate the NCTTA (National Collegiate Table Tennis Association). We were rated number one in the Mid-West and number six in the nation last year. With the new semester coming, Wisconsin Table Tennis Club is looking forward to not only defending our title in Mid-West but to also improve in the nation.
